Parliamentary Panel Summons Top Executives of Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook

To discuss the subject of safeguarding citizens’ rights on social media platforms, top executives from Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook have been asked by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology to appear before it on March 6.

Last week, the Parliamentary Panel had sent out similar summons to Twitter which drew a lot of flak for singling out the microblogging platform. The panel then responded by saying that it’s not targeting just one platform and will seek out senior executives from other social media companies as well.
