Income Tax Assessments to be “Faceless” in 2 Years: CBDT

Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes Sushil Chandra said that income tax assessments will become completely faceless in the next two years. He said that assessees will soon not have to face tax department officials as they will get pre-filled forms.

Chandra said that as part of the government’s “nameless and faceless” facility, around 2.06 lakh income tax assessment cases were processed online by the income tax department last year. He said now it’s looking to create an advanced Centralized Processing Center 2.0 that can offer more benefits to the taxpayers.
