Pandemics May Cause an Annual Loss of 570 bn USD to Global GDP: Report

According to the report “Outbreak Readiness and Business Impact” by World Economic Forum (WEF), epidemics and pandemics have become a major threat to businesses across the globe and are expected to cause a loss of 570 billion USD to the global GDP.

WEF said that the number and kind of epidemics have increased significantly in the past three decades. It reported that as many as 200 epidemic events have been observed across the globe since 2011.
