National Pension Scheme to be Mandatory for New RRB Employees

The Union government has decided to make the National Pension Scheme (NPS) compulsory for the new employees joining the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs).

A meeting was held among the Department of Financial Services (DFS) and some senior officials of the National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) and other nationalised banks that own 50% equity in RRBs. It was decided that NPS will be compulsory for the new RRB employees, although, it is already compulsory for the employees of nationalized banks since 2010.
