Malaysia May Implement India’s Aadhaar-Like Model for Better Delivery of Welfare Schemes

Taking inspiration from India’s Aadhaar model, the government of Malaysia is also planning to change its national identity card system to offer the benefits of social security schemes to beneficiaries while minimizing frauds and corruption.

PM Narendra Modi, during his visit to Kuala Lumpur earlier this year, offered Malaysia’s PM Mahathir Mohamad collaborative support in various areas including the Aadhaar model.  Last week, a delegation from Malaysia arrived in India to discuss the viability of Aadhaar-like system in their country.
