Lower Direct Tax Collection Recorded in 6 States, UP Worst

Direct tax collection has slowed down in several states in recent times. According to government data, direct tax collection declined in 6 states in FY18 with Uttar Pradesh at the bottom followed by Rajasthan, Bihar, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim. However, the total tax collection across the country increased by a whopping 17% to ₹10 trillion in FY18 compared to ₹8.49 trillion in FY17. 

The highest direct tax was collected in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
