Govt Working on Single GST Rate, Says Arun Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the union government is working on the simplification of taxes and trying to establish a single GST rate system with a slab that can be put between 12% and 18%.
Jaitley said that people should look forward to a standard rate for sin goods which include alcohol, cigarettes, etc. and also products under slabs of zero. He also said the priority is to bring cement under a lower tax slab. Currently, it’s under 28% tax slab along with a few other items including air-conditioners, sin goods, and auto parts, etc.
