Facebook Acquires Virtual Shopping Startup to Push AI Work

In a bid to push its artificial intelligence (AI)-work, Facebook has acquired AI and virtual shopping startup GrokStyle Inc.

GrokStyle’s technology was used by Ikea which allowed its users to click a photo of their furniture with the app so that it could find similar items that they can buy online.

Experts believe that the social media giant could use  GrokStyle’s technology to bolster its efforts in the AI domain. Its Marketplace feature, in particular, can benefit from the technology by making it easier for the users to buy and sell products through the service.
