Bringing Untaxed Sectors Under Tax Net Up High on Govt’s Agenda

Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey said that the government is working towards improving tax compliance and bringing untaxed sectors in the tax net to increase the tax-to-GDP ratio. He said the GST officials are also asked to identify those who are evading taxes but leave the honest taxpayers undisturbed.
Some time back, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that salaried professionals pay their taxes honestly but other sections are far from being tax-compliant.
