All Households in Bihar to Get Smart Meters in 5 Years
January 22, 2019
According to a government official, the Bihar government is looking to replace the standard electric meters in all the households of the state with prepaid smart meters within the next 4-5 years. They said that around 6,000 to 7,000 government quarters received smart meters in the past 2-3 years under a pilot program and now the government wants to install the same in other areas.
The official said that the two main reasons behind the installation of smart meters are minimizing the aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses of discoms and curbing power theft.
