10 Crore People Employed by MSME Units, Says Government

This Tuesday, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said that the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have provided employment to as many as 10 crores people in the past 4 years. He said that 18 lakh entrepreneurs obtained loans under the Prime Minister’s Employment Guarantee Programme between 2014-18. Only 11 lakh entrepreneurs obtained loans under the scheme between 2010-14, he said.
Singh’s statements are coming at a time when media reports are saying that according to the data shared by National Sample Survey Office, the unemployment rate in the country during 2017-18 was at a 45-year high.
