1.9 Million Accounts Opened in India Post Payments Bank So Far

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) was launched in January 2017 and as it’s about to celebrate its first anniversary, it’s garnered around 1.9 million accounts already. The data provided by Department of Posts (DoP) shows that the payments bank has opened 1,96,410 accounts till December 24th, 2018. It processed 975,806 transactions till December 20th.

Minister of State for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla said that IPPB was designed to be the most accessible and affordable bank for the common man. He said that it’s offering a slew of services such as savings and current accounts, direct benefit transfer, etc.
