₹20,000 cr Worth of GST Evasion Detected in FY19

Member of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (Investigation) John Joseph said that the government has detected Goods and Services Tax (GST) evasion of around 20,000 crores so far in FY19. He said that it shall take more steps to check frauds. He also said that a meeting will be held with the stakeholders of the real estate sector to discuss the issues faced by them after the GST rates reduction. 

Earlier this week, the GST Council had slashed the GST rates for affordable housing and under-construction apartments to 1% and 5%, respectively.
