₹10,000 cr FAME II Scheme Cleared by Cabinet

A ₹10,000 crores program under the FAME-II scheme that aims to promote electric and hybrid vehicles has been approved by the Union Cabinet. The Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) and Electric Vehicles (FAME) program will run over a period of 3 years starting from April 1, 2019.

At the launch event, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the main objective of the scheme is to encourage the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles across the country by offering incentives for the purchases and developing appropriate infrastructure for the charging stations.
