Common Digital Marketing Mistakes That You Must Avoid
December 04, 2018
Digital marketing is such a vast space that learning even its basics can take quite some time. However, it’s better if you can avoid some of the most common mistakes in the first place and focus on learning the right techniques instead. Some of these mistakes are:
Not Using a Social Media Management Tool
One of the most important components of digital marketing is social media. However, you can’t get the best results unless you use a proper social media management tool like Hootsuite or Buffer. These platforms allow you to create and manage multiple social media campaigns on multiple platforms like Facebook and Twitter in one place. You also get to use analytics and social media calendars that go a long way in monitoring your campaigns and identifying your strengths and weaknesses.
Losing the “Human Touch”
It’s important to learn new technologies in digital marketing like big data, analytics, etc. to boost sales and to build a brand. However, it’s also easy to end up becoming too “artificial” in your approach when all you care about is conversion rate, click-through rate, etc. and how many followers, likes, shares you get. This is a classic mistake that budding digital marketers make.
In today’s age of technology and internet, people are quickly losing touch with socialization and human traits like empathy, kindness, etc. Thus, as a marketer, it’s really important that you understand your audience and try to connect to them on an emotional level. Only then you can see the kind of results you want.
Valuing Quantity over Quality in Content
In every form of digital marketing, content is king. However, creating content just for the sake of it won’t do you any good. If you want success, you must create high-quality videos, blog posts, social media posts, etc. that are interesting and/or informational and encourage people to share them. So, even if you are able to just create 2 videos per week instead of 4 or 5 but they are good, then it’s better to do less the right way than to do more the wrong way.
Digital marketing is extremely powerful if you know what you are doing. If you are not getting the desired results, then you needn’t fret. It takes a while to understand what strategy works best for you. Good luck!
