With 11 public sector banks (PSBs) already under the Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) framework and a few more on the verge of slipping into as well, the 2-day strike organized by bank employees across the nation for wage increase is unjustified, a top bank official said.

As many as 10 lakh bank employees had observed a 2-day strike on May 30 and May 31 which brought the banking operations to a standstill and even led to massive losses.

Earlier, the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) had offered a “meagre” 2% pay hike which was rejected by banks’ unions and they decided to call a nationwide strike.
