Union Budget 2019-20: Small Farmers to Get ₹6,000 Per Year by Direct Transfer

As the Finance Minister Piyush Goyal is annouced the budget for FY19-20, the government’s last before the upcoming general elections, several sops are expected. One of these has already been announced by the FM as he said that to provide structured income support to the poor landholders, the government has set up the PM KISAN scheme. Under this, small farmers who own land up to 2 hectares will get ₹6,000 per year through direct benefit transfer (DBT). 

Goyal said that the amount will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries that are expected to be no less than ₹12 lakhs. The scheme will be rolled out on December 1, he added.
