Unhappy With E-Way Bill, GST, Truckers go on Indefinite Strike

As many as 5 million truckers have decided to go on an indefinite strike across the nation after their talks with finance minister Piyush Goyal regarding the e-way bill and GST ended inconclusively.

The truckers had raised the demands of the removal of high toll collections, arbitrary fines under the e-way bill, and inclusion of diesel in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system. However, finding that their demands have not been met, they have announced nationwide “Chakka Jam”.

The strike is expected to affect the supply of various essential items including milk, fruits, vegetables. etc.
