Unemployment Rate in India Highest in Four-Decades: NSSO Survey

The latest job survey by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) that compares the unemployment data from FY18 to that since FY73 shows that the unemployment rate was the highest during FY18 at 6.1% since FY73. However, NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar said that the survey is not finalized and is currently under the draft stage.

It’s worth noting that the chairman of National Statistical Commission (NSC) had recently resigned alleging that the government was withholding NSSO’s job survey even after its approval.
