The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) which is the Aadhaar issuing and regulatory body has provided a breather to the banks by slashing their daily Aadhaar enrolment/update target by half. So, now instead of ensuring 16 enrolments a day, they have to meet the target of only 8 enrolments or updates.

As per the government’s order, banks are required to have 10% of the branches set up Aadhaar enrolment centers and meet a daily target of new enrolments or updates of existing Aadhaar accounts which is now reduced to 8 from the existing 16. However, it will be increased again to 12 on October 1, and then back to 16 on January 1 next year.
