UAE banks to share information Pertaining to Winsome Group with India

According to one of the officials of the British bank Standard Chartered, Central Bank of UAE, the country’s banking regulator, and monetary authority has decided to share information pertaining to Winsome Group with India. The two Winsome Group firms namely, Diamonds and Jewellery, and Forever together owe around 6,800 crores to 15 banks in India. The money trail in and out of the bank accounts of the two companies of the Winsome Group would help CBI in establishing the fact that the group defrauded the banks by transferring money to related parties camouflaged as genuine customers. It is believed that standby letters of credit issued by Indian Banks in favor of bullion banks which were the suppliers of gold to the Winsome Group are the key instruments behind this fraud.
