These 5 States are Refusing to Comply with NDA’s Cash Transfer Scheme for Pregnant Women

Although it’s been a year since the Pradhan Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was launched across the nation, 5 states which make for around 20% of the total beneficiaries covered are not using the funds disbursed by the centre.

The 5 states which are Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu have not used the PMMVY funds at all. According to an official, some of the states have their own schemes which are even better in terms of the amount offered and the coverage given.   They said that some schemes are also backed by the Chief Ministers of the states which is why the state governments are refusing to use the PMMVY funds in the interest of political motives.
