Tenders Worth Rs. 13,000 cr Cancelled/Withdrawn in Interest of “Make in India”

Around Rs. 13,000 crores worth of government tenders were cancelled/ withdrawn and re-issued following the intervention of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), a government official said. This was done to push the “Make in India” initiative.

The official said that the department is in talks with many other government departments and ministries including oil and gas, defence, railways, etc. and strict compliance has been ordered for the improvement of local capacity and content.
