Suppliers to be Fined for Not Passing GST Benefits, Says NAA

The National Anti-Profiteering Authority (NAA) has made it clear that suppliers that fail to pass the benefits of GST rate reduction to their customers will be penalized for the same.  It recently gave ruling against the Jaipur-based Sharma Trading Company which allegedly didn’t lower the price of “Vaseline” and was thus charged as per Section 171 of CGST Act for engagement in profiteering.

The Directorate General of Anti Profiteering (DGAP) found that the company didn’t pass on the benefit of the new GST rate that was lowered to 18% from the previous 28%.
