Sudha Balakrishnan Appointed as RBI’s First CFO

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) executive Sudha Balakrishnan as its first-ever Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Balakrishnan, whose 3-year term has had started on May 15, was the vice-president of the NSDL and is now the 12th executive director at the central bank. She shall receive a monthly salary of Rs. 2 lakhs with housing or Rs. 4 lakh per month sans, a report said.

RBI had started looking for a CFO in May last year itself. A foreign bank executive was also reportedly selected. However, they later declined to join because of remuneration differences.
