Solar, Wind Energy Sectors to Employ 3 Lakh Workers

As per an International Labour Organization (ILO) report, the solar and wind energy sectors will provide employment to as many as 300,000 workers in India to help achieve the ambitious target of 175 gigawatts electricity production by 2022. However, it also said that the potential for employment is contingent on appropriate capacity provided for the solar module manufacturing and the offering of certification schemes.

The report cites projections shared by the Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC) and The Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) based on surveys involving wind and solar companies.
