Solar Sector Received Global Corporate Funding of $5.3 bn in 6 Months

According to global consulting firm Mercom Capital Group, the net corporate funding in the solar sector including public market, venture capital, and debt financing clocked at $5.3 billion during Jan-June this year. This is in spite of the Chinese government cutting the subsidies for all new solar projects, and Trump Tariffs.

The corporate funding stood at $4.6 billion during the same period in 2017.

Some of the biggest deals were made with India including Sunsure Energy raising debt capital worth $2.2 million from TATA Cleantech Capital, cKers Finance, and L&T Finance; and Azure Power raising $135 million in debt financing.
