Register Mobile Numbers to Prevent Internet Banking Deactivation: SBI Tells Customers

India’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has directed its customers to get their mobile numbers registered with the bank by November 30, 2018. Failing to do so may result in their Internet banking services getting blocked, it said.

SBI’s move comes in the wake of the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) which dictated that all commercial banks must ask their customers to sign up for SMS alerts if they wish to make electronic banking transactions.
