Railways’ Electrification Can Save ₹135 bn Every Year: Railway Board

Ghanshyam Singh who is a Railway Board Member (Traction) and ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India said that the electrification of railway lines will help Indian Railways save as much as ₹135 billion every year. He inspected the Pamban Railway Bridge that connects mainland India with Rameswaram and said that the bridge will be electrified along with other railway lines in the country. He also said that the energy will be obtained from local sources.  

Singh said that the government aims to establish an inexpensive and green transport system with the use of electric energy.
