Ph.D. Degree Mandatory for Teaching at Universities From 2021

This Wednesday, Human Resource Development (HRD) minister Prakash Javadekar announced that from July 2021, all teaching positions at universities will come with a mandatory Ph.D requirement. However, individuals interested in Assistant Professorship can also apply for jobs with a Master’s degree with NET as well, he added.

Javedekar said that the Academic Performance Indicator (API) metric which was used to access a teacher’s performance earlier will be replaced by a simpler evaluation system that will be used with a research score.
