Offline Aadhar Verification Allowed for Private Companies: UIDAI

CEO of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Ajay Bhushan recently tweeted that private firms can use Aadhaar-based offline verification of their customers since the Supreme Court hasn’t barred that in its recent judgment. He said that companies can continue to use KYC and quick response (QR) code-based verification. However, they can’t force the customers to authenticate through biometric details.

Bhushan said that UIDAI is also seeking legal advice as to whether a person can voluntarily use their Aadhaar for purchasing a SIM card or opening a bank account.
