Modi Govt to Invest Rs. 100 bn to Build 12 Biofuel Refineries

In a bid to cut down the oil import bill by Rs. 120 billion through increased use of biofuels, the NDA government is planning to set up 12 biofuel refineries within the country itself with a Rs. 100 billion investment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chided the previous governments for undermining the significance of ethanol blending programs.  He said now its production will increase threefold to 4.5 billion litres in the next 4 years which will result in savings of Rs. 120 billion on oil imports.
