Lok Sabha Gives Nod to Rs. 11,700 cr Additional Expenditure

This Tuesday, the Lok Sabha approved the first batch of supplementary demands for the current financial year to the tune of Rs. 11,697 crores. These demands that comprise of excess grants for FY16 and of FY19 were raised through voice voting as the opposition parties including Congress and CPI (M) walked out to show their disapproval and said the government hasn’t addressed their concerns for the alleged Rafale fighter jet scam. However, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said that it’s the lowest ever in the past 15 years. It’s only 0.2% of the total budget compared to 14% in FY09, he said.
