Karnataka Farm Loan Waiver to Set the State Back by Rs. 2,50,00 Crores

If the farm loan waiver scheme announced by the newly sworn-in chief minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa is executed successfully, then it should cost the exchequer around Rs. 250 billion, top government officials said.

Karnataka’s government has asked the banks to share the details of the total outstanding crop loans. As per the announcement, the loan waivers will be limited to Rs. 1 lakh per farmer.
