Jan Dhan Accounts Have More than Rs. 80,000 cr Now

As per the data with the finance ministry, the total amount of money in the Jan Dhan accounts has crossed Rs. 80,000 crores milestone, thus showing the popularity and success of the financial inclusion initiative.
A recent World Bank report “Global Findex” also cited appreciation for the Jan Dhan scheme in which regard it said in the last year, nearly 55% new bank accounts opened in the world were in India.
The number of bank account holders in India, overall, has also been increasing at a steady pace. At the beginning of 2017, there were 26.5 crores account holders. However, by April 2018 they had increased to 31.45 crores.
