India to Become the Largest Coking Coal Importer in 4 Years

The chief of Tata Steel Raw Material Strategy group said that India is projected to become the world’s largest coking coal importer via sea route by 2022 as domestic demand for steel production continues to increase at a rapid pace. He said that today, India is meeting 85% of its coking coal requirements through imports. By 2022, the requirement will increase to 67 million tons from the current 56 million tons, he said.
