India, China Amend Double Taxation Avoidance Treaty

In a bid to curb tax evasion, India and China have amended the bilateral tax treaty that will allow for an easy exchange of information, the Finance Ministry said.

On November 26, the Government of India signed a protocol with the People’s Republic of China to amend the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA). It has updated the current standards of exchanges of information to match international standards. Additionally, it has implemented the minimum standards under the Base Erosion & Profit Shifting (BEPS) Project.
