In-Flight Connectivity Rules to be Out Soon, Says Manoj Sinha

Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha said that the rules regarding using mobile phones and accessing internet during flights in India shall be revealed soon. He said that the Ministry is currently awaiting response from the Law Ministry on the matter.

The highest policy-making body of the Department of Telecom (DoT) i.e. Telecom Commission gave a nod to in-flight connectivity on May 1, 2018. Although the same is already available in most developed and developing nations around the world, in India, flight passengers aren’t allowed to use their phones or access the Internet when they are in the Indian airspace. However, the new rules will do away with this limitation.
