Gujarat in Cash Crunch, Rural Areas Worst Hit

There has been a major shortage of cash in Gujarat for quite some time now. Gujrat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said that they have learned about various instances of cash shortage in the state and in that regard, they have talked to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as well as the chief secretary.

Sources say that the cash crunch emerged around two weeks back which is mainly because of less amount of cash provided by the RBI. Although the central bank has 257 currency chests in the state, the cash crunch has affected the entire state, especially the rural areas.
