GSTN Shares Data with Tax Department to Nab Tax Evaders

In a bid to catch tax evaders under the Goods and Services Tax regime, the GST Network (GSTN) has started sharing data related to return filing with the tax authorities. A large part of this involves checking if there is a mismatch between the details provided in form GSTR 1 that contains the summary of outward supplies and GSTR 3B.

The government has started taking various measures to increase tax collection under the GST regime which has been lower than expected so far. On the other hand, GSTN is also working to improve the experience for the taxpayers. One of the things it’s currently working on is polishing the system’s user interface.
