GSTN Looking to Bar Taxpayers from Generating E-Way Bills When Failing to File GST Returns
January 22, 2019
To penalize the non-compliant taxpayers under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, the GST Network (GSTN) is working on a new IT system that may bar businesses that fail to file their returns within 6 months from generating e-way bills that are required for the movement of goods.
During the April-December period, the central tax officials detected 3,626 cases of GST violation that involved ₹15,278 crores. They have been looking to improving the tax evasion measures ever since.
