GST Council to Rationalize 28% Tax Slab for Construction Products
December 15, 2018
Since Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime came into effect, the GST council has trimmed 28% tax slab several times under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Tax rates of around 191 goods have been reduced in the past 18 months and currently, there are only 35 items under the highest tax slab.
According to a news report, the GST council will rationalize the 28% tax slab further in its next meeting which is scheduled for December 22. Many of these items are construction items like cement and demerit items like pan masala and cigarette.
