Government Saved Rs. 984 cr via Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme in FY18

As per the government data, transferring the benefits of several social security schemes to the beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) channel has helped the center save Rs. 984 crores in the financial year 2017-18 which is 58% higher than the financial year 2016-17.

Since FY14 when the DBT scheme was launched, the government has saved Rs. 90,013 crores. In FY18, the savings were much higher than the previous fiscal because of the increased used of Aadhaar-based DBT platforms for fertilizer and food subsidy distribution.
