Government Exempts Gold Import from IGST, Jewelry Exporters Rejoice

The government has decided to exempt the 3% Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) on gold obtained from nominated agencies, a move that’s welcomed by the jewelry exporters with open arms. 

Chairman of the Gems & Jewelry Export Promotion Council Pramod Agrawal said that they appreciate the government’s decision of 3% IGST exemption on gold. He said that they are also expecting a similar relief for the exports of silver and platinum goods soon.
