Government Committed to Helping Farmers, Says PM Narendra Modi on MSP Hike

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to 1.5 times the production cost of farming produce. He said that the government is committed to help the agriculture sector grow.

The centre hiked the MSP for paddy by Rs. 200 per quintal in a bid to fulfil its promise of giving farmers 50% more rate than their cost of production. However, according to experts, the move can set the government back by as much as Rs. 1,75,000 crores.
