FTAs Touch 1 cr Mark for the First Time

Union Minister Alphons Kannanthanam said that Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) has reached 1 crore benchmark “for the first time”, and the government aims at doubling the figure in 3 years. He also said that the total revenue generated from the FTAs is around Rs. 1,80,000 crores.
Kannanthanam said that the center aims at doubling the FTA in the next 3 years, for which it will shift its focus to the nightlife tourism. He said that the tourism industry is responsible for 12.36% employment in the country and makes for 6.88% GDP.
