Foreign Tourists May Soon Get to Claim GST Refunds

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) department is working on a mechanism that will soon allow foreign tourists in India to claim GST refunds for their local purchases at the airports when leaving the country.

The concept of offering tax refunds to the tourists isn’t actually new. In many countries including France, Singapore, Malaysia, UK, Germany, Australia, etc., tourists can claim the GST or VAT refunds for the purchases made during their stay.
