E-Commerce Players May Soon Face Action on Delivery of Sub-Standard Products as Govt Works on New Rules

Online shoppers may soon get relief from sub-standard products as the government has started framing new rules that will hold the manufacturers as well as e-commerce websites guilty for the delivery of poor quality products.

The new rules that are drafted by the consumer affairs department, look to clearly define the “electronic service providers” so as to tighten the government’s grasp on them. The service providers will be required to disclose their terms and conditions to the sellers partnering with them, and guarantee data privacy and payment security to their customers.
