Direct Tax Collections Increase by 14% in April-September

The government collected 14% more direct tax which stood at ₹4.44 lakh crores during the period between April-September.  Tax refunds have also increased by 30% this year. 

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley recently attended an economic review meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the gross direct tax collection stood at ₹5.47 lakh crores, up by 16.7% on year-over-year basis, and the net direct tax collection stood at ₹4.44 lakh crores during April-September. He also said that the advance tax collection increased by 18.7% to ₹2.1 lakh on year-over-year basis.
