CSCs to Offer Banking Services Soon as Centre Approves

In what looks like a move aimed at attracting the rural demographic, the NDA government announced that the Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the nation will now also work as banking correspondents and may be linked with the extension branches of the banks in the near future.

There are close to 290,000 CSCs in India as of today. They are based on the public-private partnership (PPP) model and offer a variety of financial and agriculture services, social welfare schemes, etc.
